Where I Found My Zen

zenpaul-1

A few years ago I was really into hand-carving rubber stamps.
After losing my precious Mom I needed to find a way back to enjoying my passion...
...making ART...
-the quiet and focused method of carving stamps was my path.
It was where I found my zen.

While carving the rubber stamp of Paul in the journal page pictured above I began thinking back to 1963.
I was 13 and the British invasion had begun!
I remember clearly that even our mom's thought Paul was 'the cute Beatle'...well, at least my Mom did! For over 42 years Mom and I loved listening to the Beatles together.

Jolene, I love that journal page and the stamp of Paul is socool! I was looking at the two pages you did in my Beatle altered book a few years ago. Has it really been a "few" years already? Crazy!
Great journal page and I love what you wrote on it. Me and my grandma loved Ringo for a while. LOL!!!

My parents scoffed. They didn't hate them and in some ways my dad was fairly cool. Bet you didn't know that I was in a singing group in 64 where we sang Beatle songs...four of us girls with fake guitars. I can't believe I'm admitting this. My friend was in a music class and that was her project. So three of her friends sang along (I can't carry a tune at all, so I don't know how THAT worked) but they scoffed. HAH! All these years later the Beatles are still loved by those of us with true taste!
.
But enough about me and my warble. This is a cool page and Paul has never looked better! Odd though...that looks like George's guitar...hmmm. Great job, girl!

Funny story Ellen! I never knew about your singing career! HA HA HA!
Hmm, it does look a bit like George's guitar - yet the image I carved was taken from a photograph. Maybe they shared ;-)

Oh I know Paul plays darn near everything. It's probably his. I was just observing. :o)

NorahNick - LOL! Carving rubber stamps is SO relaxing for me! I was very lucky with this one of Paul, probably the toughest one I have carved to date!
